Welcome to MingleTrivia

A social trivia game for the room you are in. Everyone plays on their own phone, sees the same question, and races to answer first.

Steps

  1. An iPhone or iPad with the app hosts the game
  2. Guests join in Android Chrome or iPhone Safari
  3. Free rooms hold 20 players; Host rooms hold 40
  4. Every phone needs an internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
  5. Speed-based scoring rewards quick thinking

Hosting a Game

The host uses the app on iPhone or iPad and plays along. All guests join in their phone browser, with no account or download.

Steps

  1. Tap ‘Host a Game’ from the home screen
  2. Select a trivia pack
  3. Show players the lobby QR code or share the 4-character room code
  4. Wait for players to join the lobby
  5. Tap ‘Start Game’ when everyone is ready

Pro tips

  1. Choose packs appropriate for your group’s interests
  2. You can see who’s joined before starting
  3. Scanning the QR code opens the game directly in the browser
  4. Use the shield to manage Player Safety

Joining a Game

Join in Android Chrome or iPhone Safari. Guests need no account or app download.

Steps

  1. Scan the host’s QR code with your phone camera to open the game in your browser
  2. Or open mingletrivia.com/play.html in your browser and enter the host’s 4-character room code
  3. Enter your display name and join the lobby
  4. Wait for the host to start; everyone sees the same question

Pro tips

  1. Make sure your phone has an internet connection
  2. Browser players use initials and never receive player photos
  3. Keep the browser tab open for Play Again
  4. Hosting and solo play use the iPhone and iPad app

Submitting Answers

The question and its options appear on your phone. Choose quickly for maximum points.

Steps

  1. Read the question and the answer options on your screen
  2. Tap the answer you believe is correct
  3. You can change your selection before submitting
  4. Press ‘Submit Answer’ before the timer runs out
  5. Speed is measured when you press Submit Answer
  6. Once submitted, your answer is final
  7. Wait for other players, then compare scores after the round

Pro tips

  1. Use the process of elimination
  2. A wrong answer scores nothing, so read every option
  3. Some questions may have tricky distractors

Scoring & Winning

Earn points for correct answers and speed. Streaks multiply, and the fastest correct answers win the round.

Steps

  1. Correct answers earn 100 base points; wrong answers earn 0
  2. Speed adds up to 100 bonus points, decreasing by about 1 point per second
  3. Each connected player beyond 3 adds 25 points to a correct answer
  4. Two or more correct answers in a row multiply your answer points by 1.5
  5. Final scores show after all rounds
  6. Winner is crowned at the end!

Pro tips

  1. Balance speed with accuracy; wrong answers get no points
  2. Difficulty changes the challenge, not the points
  3. The leaderboard updates after each round
